I think we are now in our 7th year (yes really!) Where has that time gone. Swimbridge Run is a challenging 10k ... but the scenic run up and over Swimbridge hills – part road, part track, stream crossings, woodland paths and stunning views – via the old silver mines and Daffodil Valley passing through the picturesque hamlets of Hannaford, Hearson, Wrimstone and Dennington makes it all worth it.
It attracts runners from across the South West. Last year Ronnie Richmond from Bideford ACC was first over the line in an amazing 37:50. The 10k starts at 11.30 am in the Glebe Field. Last year's results for the 10k and 3k can be viewed here.
The run is affiliated with ARC. Our thanks to North Devon Road Runners for their support again.
We also have a 3k fun run for 8-14's for our juniors. This run is from Swimbridge to Hannaford and back. There are two sections 8-11's and 12-14's. This run starts at the earlier time of 10.30 am.
There are lots of categories and prizes. It is a great event. We always book good weather (we aim to do the same again this year), and with bouncy castles, delicious cakes, and stalls there are lots of fun things to do for your friends and family while you're taking part.
A huge thank you to our sponsors Davisons Chartered Accountants for sponsoring us again www.davisons-uk.com .
Over the years, the monies raised from this run has helped us with our local community fundraising, and together with the funding from our grant funders (which includes £500k from the Big Lottery) we have just completed a £630k improvement scheme to our village hall. It is now an amazing space and we can't wait to show it off to you all when you register for the run. We are now raising funds for equipment to enable our community to do so much more.
Once you've registered on the day at the "NEW" village hall, just take a 2 minute walk to the Glebe Field where all the action starts.
Don't miss it, come and be part of it. See you there!
